What Is Recycling?

Recycling is the separation and collection of materials that would otherwise be considered waste or trash, followed by the process of remanufacturing these items into new, reusable products, and the subsequent use of theses recycled products to complete the cycle. Simply put, recycling turns used items like glass, paper, plastic and cans into new, reusable products. The benefits of recycling are enormous! The process of recycling and reusing recyclable materials helps to conserve precious natural resources, save energy, reduce air and water pollution, lower greenhouse gas emissions and reduces the volume of discarded items thrown into our landfills and incinerators. Recycling also has been shown to not only help boost the U.S. economy, but decrease unemployment rates Nationwide, while simultaneously helping to create new, well-paying jobs.
